The gun begins official timing. Your official placing is your finish time minus the time the gun fired. The first person across the finish line wins so if you plan to finish in a high place you will need to be close to the start line when the gun fires. Your personal time is calculated from the time you cross the timing mat to the time you cross the finish line.
