Pre Race
Gather at the Marque at least 30minutes before your race time for a pre-race briefing and to be escorted to the start area.
- The transponder issued with pre-race registration pack must be securely attached to your shoelaces.
- The race number issued with your pre-race registration pack must be unaltered and pinned high on your chest.
The Start Lines
To receive an official finish time all entrants must pass over both the Start and Finish mats
The Marathon and Half Marathon start line are approximately 800m south of the event centre
The 10k and 5k start lines are approximately 700m north of the event centre
The Start will be sign posted from the Event Marquee.
At the start line, entrants will be asked to arrange themselves somewhat in order of finish time (fastest to the front), walkers must line up toward the rear of their field so as not to impede runners.
Mats at the start and finish lines, and race timing software provided by ChampionChip will calculate your net time for the event.
Marshalls will be on hand to direct you or you can visit the Information desk for advice
Event Finish Time limit
Official timing for the marathon will cease after 7 hours 30 minutes. Entrants anticipating finishing after 7hrs 30mins must carry their own drinks or have support available toward the end of the course.
As a precaution a "Tail End Charlie" will be provided for late finishers.
The Finish
The finish is adjacent to the events centre.
After crossing the finish line, participants will proceed through the finish area. St Johns facilities are on hand if required. A final support station is positioned within this area and will have water.
Chip (transponder) return
All participants will be required to return their ChampionChip Transponder to race officials before leaving the finish area. Failure to return the chip will result in a charge of $30.00. No exceptions will be made.
Finishers will then receive their exclusive finisher’s medal. Participants will then exit this secure finish area. Public, family and friends will be excluded from within this secure finish area.

Timing System
This year's event will use the timing services of ChampionChip.
This timing system has many advantages for all participants, including:
- Fast and accurate results at the event.
- Net times; the timing Transponder will register individual start times, even when participants are at the back of the pack.
- Provisional results will be posted at the finish venue on race day.
- Results published to the web site for you, your family and friends.
Participants will be issued with a transponder when you pick up your Race Number at Registration. You will need to pick up the transponder and take responsibility for it. There will be facilities available at race registration to check the transponder is working and confirm that critical database details are correct. On Race Day, the transponder must be tied to your shoe laces before you start and be worn on your shoe throughout the race and over the finish line.
There will be timing mats at the start line and at the finish line so that when you finish, the race timing software will calculate your net time for the event.
At the finish venue, the transponders must be returned to the officials collecting them. If you do not return your transponder, you will be invoiced $30 for the non-return of the transponder.
Tie the champion chip into your shoelaces.

To post ChampionChips back simply wrap the chip in some paper and place in an envelope, using selotape to secure the envelope flap.
Then post to:
