It has been another big week of training for me this past week. Training has now become part of what I do every day. It is all I think about when I wake up. It is all I want to do in my spare time, and as I get closer to the big day I am more excited about how I might do come crunch time.
In the past week I have continued heading up trig. We are lucky to have such a great walk in Horowhenua. Heading up trig does amazing things for my breathing, it has also built terrific strength in my legs, they’re so much stronger and I feel it when I’m out biking. The rush you get each and every time you reach the top of trig is just electric, everyone should give it a try.
I have to admit to you all I did do a silly thing this past week. On Saturday I got up bright and early to do some triathlon training which consisted of a 300m swim, a 5km bike, and a 2km run, I then thought I would join my husband and do a workout at the gym. Of course I over did it which left me sore for the next 2-3 days. On Sunday I honestly felt like a bus had hit me, and I could hardly move. So the moral of that story is while I love training, I need to make sure I have recovery time and rest my poor muscles.
I am still heading our on my bike a lot, in the forest, and on the roads around Waitarere Beach, clocking up some good distances. I can’t imagine not having a bike now to just jump on and go. I must remember not to go biking around dinner time though as a couple of evenings I have gone out and the wonderful, actually mesmerizing smells of dinner cooking can be a distraction.
Talking about food I have still been keeping up with my healthy eating, cutting out things I know don't make me feel good. Before I plan a meal or even a snack I think about it for a few minutes and 99% of the time I make the right choice. Remember choose healthy your tummy is not a waste basket!! Abs are made in the kitchen!!
I am getting so excited about the event! Have you signed up yet? If you haven't pop down and see the Great Forest Events team at Levin New World from 11am - 2pm on Saturday. They can answer any questions and help with your entry. Otherwise you can enter online at www.greatforest.org.nz
