I'm half way there and feeling the pressure! Over the last week I have had lots more energy. I feel like I have made some life long habits and I just want to exercise all the time. I have also started seriously thinking about nutrition, what is going into my body, and what's keeping my energy up so I don't crash badly after lots of training.
I have found getting the right balance of food is not the easiest when you're doing more exercise than normal. I am constantly snacking on fruit and my favourite nut mix, Sunshine Mix with extra raw almonds seems to be my best friend lately. I am including lots of fish, chicken and fresh vegetables in my meals. I have gone cold turkey and cut out nearly all processed foods concentrating hard on the theory if its a plant eat it, if its made in a plant don't. Apples at the moment are just delicious!!!
I have some fantastic news to share... I have finally got a bike! I am now a proud owner of a good set of wheels and I'm so excited to get my bum on the seat and hit the tracks. Getting back on a bike has taken me back to my childhood, it is quite a playful experience. My husband has been very supportive with my training, over the last few weeks I have left him to fend for himself, but as he also enjoys biking, we've decided to do this together! It has been a blast, we have already completed a
couple of 10km rides through the forest. The scenery out there is addictive. Biking is a great way to get active, it's something for the whole family and the Horowhenua region has off road tracks everywhere for those worried about cycling on the busy roads.
While the walking on the beach has been great I feel like I need to push myself a bit harder so this week I've gone up Trig every second day, it's a great hike. Getting up to the top of Trig is really helping with not only strength in my legs and back but it's worked wonder with my breathing, I am really noticing this in the water when I swim too! It's so busy up Trig, there are all sorts up there, the fire brigade are regulars (not putting out fires) but training, kids mountain biking, elderly people, lots of little dogs and everyone going up at all times of the day, it's a neat atmosphere!
Next week I aim to get out on my new bike more and keep up my healthy eating.
